About Derek
I was born in Akron, Ohio in January of 1966. Then at the age of two, I was tired of the winters, so I moved my two older sisters and parents south, way south, to the island of St. John in the US Virgin Islands. Life was fantastic on the island.
Lots of beaches and water to splash around, so many trees that needed to be climbed and plenty of tropical fruit to be eaten. I mean, what toddler would not choose that over cold, wet snow?
After many years of island life, having family move down for a while, then head back stateside, I decided that third grade would be better in Orlando, Florida. I had grandparents there, along with an aunt, uncle and cousins my age. After a hard sell, my mother gave in, and we moved to central Florida.

A beautifully woven story. Changing the perspective of the well-known story, this version introduces us to the characters before they had even met. It weaves their lives, skills, and interests together, giving the reader a sense of who they were before they became the three we speak of today. It is beautifully written and is highly recommended to add to your collection of Christmas stories recounted each year.

We Three: Their Beginning was such a delightful take on the origins of the three wisemen! The author does a great job weaving Scripture with a fictional story of how the magi came to be. Starting way before they were even born the author paves the way for their meeting that comes 600 years later. This was such a fun story to read and I can't wait for the next installment!
